Brassica Kamome F1™ (Brassica oleracea) is a premium ornamental kale / flowering kale series from TAKII Seed, specially valued for its finely fringed, ruffled leaves and attractive colour development.

Unlike ordinary vegetable kale, Kamome is primarily grown as an ornamental foliage plant, bringing texture and seasonal colour to flower beds, containers, balconies, rooftops and landscape displays. Its compact growth makes it particularly suitable for decorative pot combinations and commercial ornamental plant production.

The Kamome series is available in attractive Pink, Red and White colours.

Sow in a clean, fine-textured and well-drained seed-starting medium. Keep the medium evenly moist but avoid excessive watering and waterlogging.

📏 Plant Height & Spacing

Plant Height: Approximately 15–25 cm (6–10 inches).

For containers and home gardens, approximately 25–30 cm (10–12 inches) spacing is a practical starting point. Commercial growers can adjust spacing according to container size and the desired final plant size.

🌈 Colour Development

Kamome is particularly interesting for Bangladesh because its finely fringed leaves can develop attractive colours as the weather becomes cooler.

The central foliage becomes increasingly colourful as temperatures fall, making it especially suitable for the cooler part of Bangladesh’s growing season. TAKII also notes that Kamome’s fringed-leaf type can develop colour better under relatively warm conditions than some other flowering-kale types.

Growing Season in Bangladesh

Bangladesh does not normally provide the frost and freezing conditions mentioned in temperate-country cultivation guides, but Kamome can still be grown as a cool-season ornamental plant.

For Bangladesh, production is best planned during the late autumn and winter period, when temperatures and night temperatures are lower.

For the strongest ornamental colour, growers should avoid the hottest part of the year. Cooler nights generally help the foliage develop its characteristic colour.
