Seed Freshening Chemistry

The embryo viability of stored seeds gradually decreases, thereby reducing the germination capacity of the seeds. Treating seeds with germinoids stimulates embryo vigour, increases seed germination and promotes rapid seedling growth.

Dimensions: Different numbers are written on Germinaid packets like GV1, G5, G10 etc. These numbers determine the amount of seed and water. For example, a GV1, the packet chemistry can be used to treat up to 1 kg of seeds in a solution that dissolves completely in 1 liter of water. Similarly, the chemistry of G1o packet can be dissolved in 10 liters of water and up to 10 kg of seeds can be treated etc.

Soaking time: Usually 3 hours for thin shelled seeds. 4-6 hours for medium shelled seeds and 10-12 hours for coarse shelled seeds. Paddy seeds should be soaked in Germinide mixture for first 10-12 hours and then soaked in water only for another 10-12 hours.
